Josh Prince Files Petition in Commonwealth Court to Safeguard Election Integrity Following Cambria County Ballot Error

Cambria County, PA — In response to a serious ballot printing error affecting the Republican race for Commonwealth Court, constitutional attorney and judicial candidate Josh Prince has filed an emergency petition with the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania requesting immediate judicial review and relief to ensure that voters are not disenfranchised and denied their fundamental right to vote for the candidate of their choice.

Late last week, Cambria County officials confirmed that approximately 2,000 Republican mail-in ballots were distributed with the names of the two candidates for Commonwealth Court—Josh Prince and Matt Wolford—appearing in the incorrect order, in direct contradiction to the certified ballot sequence. The Department of State had previously flagged this issue following a routine review in April, but despite assurances by Cambria County that the error had been corrected, the faulty ballots were nevertheless mailed to voters beginning May 7th.

“It is deeply concerning that this known error was allowed to persist,” said Prince. “The people of Pennsylvania deserve full confidence in the electoral process. When the integrity of the ballot is compromised, the legitimacy of the election itself is called into question.”

Prince’s petition asks the Court to:

• Ensure a secure process for segregating and reviewing any returned ballots from the flawed batch;
• Order a manual count of those ballots with representation from both campaigns to guarantee transparency and accuracy; and,
• Preclude Secretary Al Schmidt from proclaiming the results of the Primary, until such time as the Commonwealth Court has the opportunity to review and consider any objections of the campaigns to any of the returned ballots.

“Election integrity is not a partisan issue. It’s a constitutional one,” Prince emphasized. “I am not seeking special treatment—I am seeking a fair and lawful process. The voters deserve to know that their voice will be counted and counted correctly, regardless of their vote.”

The petition comes just days before the May 20th Primary Election and reflects a growing concern from voters across the Commonwealth regarding procedural missteps that could impact judicial races often decided by slim margins.

Prince, who has an extensive history of litigating constitutional issues before the Commonwealth Court for well over a decade, continues to advocate for accountability, transparency, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
