Hunter Orange, No Clue: PA GOP Copies the Tim Walz Photo-Op Fail
May 16, 2025

We all remember the embarrassing video.
Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ vice-presidential pick, showed up to a staged hunting photo-op in Minnesota wearing a brand-new blaze orange vest and hat—gear that looked like it had just come out of the packaging. It was meant to appeal to hunters and gun owners. But when he went to unload his shotgun, it was obvious he had no idea what he was doing. The video went viral for all the wrong reasons, and gun owners across the country saw right through the act. Because real sportsmen and women recognize the difference between authentic experience and political theater.
Now, the Pennsylvania GOP is pulling the same stunt.
This week, gun owners across the Commonwealth received a mailer printed in hunter orange, boldly labeled, “Attention Sportsmen and Gun Owners.” Styled to mimic a traditional NRA mailer—perhaps the Pa GOP’s consultants didn’t realize the NRA doesn’t typically endorse in judicial races—but instead of presenting facts, it attempted to dress up an unqualified candidate, who disregards law and order, Matthew Wolford, as a defender of the Second Amendment.
Let’s set the record straight. Matthew Wolford has never defended the Second Amendment or gun owners in court. He is not a firearms instructor. He has no record of firearms litigation in state or federal court, and he has never been endorsed by any major 2A organization. His background is not in constitutional defense—it’s as a prosecutor of environmental regulation violations and as an attorney for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
In contrast, I’ve spent my legal career on the front lines defending law-abiding gun owners and Federal Firearms Licensees. I’ve litigated hundreds of firearms-related cases across state and federal jurisdictions. I am certified as an NRA firearms instructor. My work has earned numerous endorsements, including from Dick Heller (of D.C. v. Heller) Gun Owners of America – Pennsylvania, Alan Gottlieb of the Second Amendment Foundation, Firearm Owners Against Crime ILLEA, Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ PAC, and the Trigger Pressers Union.
These endorsements were not handed to me by party leadership—they were earned through consistent, principled action in defense of the Constitution.
The Pa GOP’s strategy is clear: Dress up a candidate in political camo and hope gun owners won’t look too closely. But real 2A voters are not easily fooled. We are situationally aware. We study records. We recognize the difference between someone who’s shown up in the courtroom to defend our rights—and someone who’s just shown up in our junk mail.
This election is not about appearances. It’s about who has the experience and integrity to stand firm when your rights are under attack. If you’re a sportsman, a gun owner, a parent, or simply a citizen who believes the courts should be filled with constitutional defenders, I humbly ask for your vote on May 20th.
In closing, ask yourself: Who do you want in the hunting blinds or out on the range with you?
Someone who knows what they’re doing, or someone who’s just there for the photo?
We don’t vote based on costumes. We vote based on conviction.
We vote based on record.
We vote on truth.
Vote for substance over spectacle.
Vote Josh Prince for Commonwealth Court.
Yours in Truth, Liberty, and Justice,
Joshua Prince, Esq.
